Research indicated that there was a need for a quick preheat countertop oven, and a desire to eliminate hot and cold spots to create an even heating cooking environment. The InfraWave Oven delivers cooking times similar to a microwave oven. Today infrared grills are commonplace. The InfraWave IR Oven was developed by Applica Consumer Products, Inc., along with Ceramicx Ireland Ltd., the leading industrial infrared heating provider of ceramic heaters. I created the roll-top door to make it easier to transfer food in and out of the oven with the risk of burning the chef! Although this innovation did not make it into the final product the control panel placement and orientation did. The FC150 and FC300 were both launched.
