Each side of the drivetrain has its own custom designed 23:1, 2 motor gearbox. The motors are positioned over top of the drive wheels as to leave space in the middle of the robot for other mechanisms or electronics
The output of the custom gearboxes were distributed among the 8 wheels using a chain system to create an 8WD system. All chains are automatically tensioned using a spring loaded idler system
