Draping: Sixties Schoolgirl
The aim of this project was to utilize traditional draping techniques to create a two-piece collection with a definite historical influence.
Inspired by school girls of the early 1960’s, I set out to create two pieces that would fit easily into any woman’s wardrobe, while making a strong statement.
The top plays on a traditional 60’s silhouette, with a sweetheart neckline and trapeze fit. By adding a sheer yoke and vegan-leather collar, this otherwise conservative top becomes youthful and exciting. Like the top, the skirt relies heavily on fabric choice. The fabric is manipulated in such a way that takes full advantage of the bold print, while the shape accentuates the female form.
