The core of my thesis is to integrate local culture, material, and nature to develop a contemporary architecture that is uniquely Filipino. Evaluating my past experiences in the Philippines and studying our history have also been important elements to integrate towards this process; I have expressed this exploration through the use of modular origami where the endless folding of paper became the units for the architecture I created. This art-form, I believe, reflects the work ethic and mindset many Filipinos have; a deep attention to detail and the outlook that anything can be achieved no matter how many steps involved.
