Giro chair
The challenge in this project was to merge the experiences of dinning and lounging in your garden, together in one product. It could anything from a lounge set with a high table, an add-on for an existing set (eg. stools, footrest, etc) or a completely new solution.
I challenged myself on thinking out of the ordinary, and inspired by a recent development from my colleague and cooworker Ayala Bougay (Tobago table), I came up with the idea of a chair that could turn from a dinning chair to a lounge chair.
I achieved it by experimenting with the diferent angles, heights and depths of each position. So when the chair is resting on one of the bases, the sitting height, angle and depth correspond to a dinning chair, and while the chair is resting on the other base, the sitting height, angle and depth match those of a lounge chair. All achieved with two open-close moulded parts, a few screws and a simple flip.
