Emergency Lighting System - The Emergency lighting system is no more than an exit sign, one that could potentially save your life. The exit sign utilizes directional audio to bounce and guide audio waves down halls so that they would reach the individuals within the building. Unlike most exit signs, which beam painfully loud sounds at individuals to further the need for an evacuation, this exit sign uses audio to direct individuals to the exits.
Emergency Lighting Stages - Ultra bright LEDs are used to make the sign flash and glow at its necessary times. They are energy efficient and allow for the device to continue operation for a number of hours after power has been lost. The device sports four lithium ion (cobalt) batteries to power the lights and speaker during those guaranteed power outages.
Normal Exit Sign - When a fire is detected the nearest exit sign will take this information and determine the safest possible route for evacuation, preferably away from the fire. All the other exit signs in the building will then proceed to direct individuals through the building using the flashing of the signs and projection of its directed audio. Exits that are not recommended for exiting will only display a constant light with no emission of sound, letting the individual know that it is an option if needed.
Improved Functions - Exit signs in stairwells will alert individuals as to which direction they are to travel using a series of intermittent swooping sounds. If the individual is suggested to travel down the stairs to safety the sound that will be played, in addition to the current one, will be a high to low pitch swoop down. If the individual is suggested to travel up the stairs a low to high pitch swoop up will be played.
Breakdown of Componets - The exit sign is colored lime green because it is the most sensitive color the human eye can see, the human eye contains more green cones than any other, making this the perfect color for any situation where visibility is a must. The use of a symbol, in distinguishing the device as an exit sign, rather than words appeals to a larger audience not just English reading individuals. The exit sign is made with a unique “translucent metal foil” that allows light to pass through it.
