Rhythm Rack - A project from a introductory product design course called for creating a media storage system. The Rhythm Rack was created to do just this, but also hints at the foundation of the media that it holds giving movement to the items before even in use. (Slots cut with CNC router, dwg file shown above)
Bent Lamination Process & CNC router on 3D surface - 1. Bend sheet metal to find desire shape quickly. 2. Half mold prototype cut on CNC Router 3. Final mold 4. Glue up profile of mold spindle sand to desired smoothness. 5. Start laying up the ply wood gluing both sides. 6. Lay sheets into mold one by one, use body weight if needed and clamp. 7. 12 hours later open mold, use half mold to cut off extra material. 8. Create a jig for CNC router, make sure dwg drawing and zero are set perfectly.
Continued: Bent Lamination Process & CNC router on 3D surface - 9. Once the feeds/speeds, zero, and CAM file are correct on jig prototype, put on the final piece on connecting it in any way that does not effect the piece or get in the way of the CNC routers path 10. After getting a successful cut of the 3d surface clean up the piece with finishing tools 11. Wipe down the piece to ensure no dust or particles sit on the pieces surface 12. Apply a Stain/finish and let sit 13. Repeat
