Dimidium Vitae
Project III: “’Fears & Fobias’
Professors: Ismael Rodríguez, Ramiro Estrada.
Year: 2012
In Colaboration:
Gabriela Martínez Torres
Jaqueline Herrera Simpson
Material: clay, metal, glass.
Project aimed to create utilitarian objects that transmit the fears and phobias people have. The objective was that when people use the objects, they would be “terrorized”.
“Dimidium Vitae” is a set of clay pieces that embody the fear of life, where the user must leave behind a part of himself, to use the elements of the collection.
The collection is divided into two sets, each consisting of 1 bottle, 1 bowl and 1 letter opener. These were intended for specific users, because of the nature of the project, the main actors were teachers (Ismael & Ramiro) who should leave behind elementary parts of their personality in order to get the "gifts" of each item.
The collection consists of two bottles, two small plates with their cage and two letter openers.
