Whispers of the Windmill – 3D Reimagining of a 2D Concept

I’m excited to share my latest project – Whispers of the Windmill.
This scene is a 3D interpretation of a beautiful 2D illustration by Anastasia Sazhko, whose work I discovered on ArtStation and found incredibly inspiring.
My goal was to preserve the charm, warmth, and storytelling of the original concept while building a fully realized 3D environment with lighting, atmosphere, and depth.
?? Workflow:
Modeling – Autodesk Maya
Texturing – Substance Painter
Scene setup & Rendering – Blender
The main assets were modeled in a low-poly style, optimized for potential use in a real-time engine like Unity.
To bring the scene to life, I created stylized trees and foliage, and added subtle, layered fog to support the mood and composition.
This project was a great exercise in translating 2D stylized art into a vibrant 3D world.
