Most flat formed rulers were easily tarnished by ink and spoilt clean paper; making it hard to properly lift up. Plastic rulers were easy to break and steel rulers were too heavy and sharp.
In the gist of designing a ruler which was easy to lift up, we were inspired by the shape of a water drop, and altered one surface of the ruler into this shape.
Not only is this design easy for users to lift up the ruler, it is scarcely tarnished by ink. Also, both sides were marked with Inches and centimeters to increase practical use.
We anodized the surface with aluminum, coloring the surface to prevent discoloration and create a charming look. Also, we designed the package mutually, to add some fun. The product is now on sale in the MOMA store in New York and online.
