The Helmet of King Leonidas - This sculptural, life size, Spartan helmet is made of Rouge River Buff clay. The upper half was thrown and then altered into an upside down eliptical bowl to which rolled and hand built clay was added to make the lower half. The plume holder was extruded and cut so that course red broom brissles could be added to make the plum. Two large white feathers could also be placed in the wedges protruding from the ear arias.
