Product Design - Beacon
My Masters project was a safety device for firefighters. Beacon attaches to the search ropes and contains green LEDs which flash in a chasing pattern towards the direction of the exit. Also included are red LEDs, which signal that an emergency exit is required. This is much more reliable than the existing system of blowing a whistle.
Beacon fits seamlessly with the existing system, and provides clear directional guidance. Their robust design means they are protected from heat, water and impact.
