In 2009 I began a toy invention collaboration with Nancy Zweirs of Funosophy and a team of talented artists including sculptor Margi Wray, designer Mitzi McCarthy, and marketing wiz Kim Ferguson. Our idea became Pony Royale, a collection of glamorous princess ponies with interchangeable manes and tales. The dolls are now produced by Razor and are available at Toys R Us, Target and Walmart.
The original designs for Pony Royale are shown in this gallery. The dolls were inspired by historical fashion and the whimsical carousels of the 19th century. Although the finished product looks a bit different from my preliminary illustrations, the overall feel and aesthetic remains as whimsical and delightful as I envisioned them.
