The environment is in the hands of our children - Introducing Alienus: the remote controlled flying toy which aims to be the next mass collectible toy. Like most fad toys, they die out after a while. However, some games still have an after value effect due to them being collectible (i.e. Pokemon and Barbie) and therefore, people won’t discard them after use as there is a huge resell value if retained for long enough.
The choice is all yours – With seven different components making up alienus, and countless variations of each component, the user has all the freedom in the world to choose how to customise their toy.
Controller, Packaging, Landing Pad – An ergonomic controller allows total control of the UFO. Furthermore, the packaging is used as storage for the toy when not in use – similar to how the box for board games stores all the components inside.
Whatever tickles your fancy – Each component has a variety of different designs. Above shows just four of the countless variations of each component. These can be mixed and matched with one another to create a unique toy to express the user’s creativity.
Trade. Learn. Play – An educational element to Alienus allows children to learn about astronomy whilst having fun. Each Alien comes with its own fact card. These fact cards can also be used as trading cards and played with friends in a ‘Top Trump-esque’ playing style.
Evolution never ends – On top of the assortment of component designs, each part comes in a variety of colours. Furthermore, the controllers also come in different colours. Due to the manufacturing process of Injection moulding, adding colour can be done with ease.
Injection Moulding – To ensure efficient production for all the different variations of each component, injection moulding is the fastest process for doing so. Polyethylene is the chosen plastic due to its ‘food-safe’ qualities (meaning it will be safe for children if they put it in their mouth.)
Laser Cutting – Foam inserts in the packaging are used to protect the internal parts from damaging upon impact whilst allowing easy insertion and removal from the packaging during use. Laser cutting allows high accuracy for the pieces to be inserted.
