THE PROBLEM In order to develop more efficient and longer lasting batteries, it is important to develop a clearer picture of how the state of charge changes inside of a battery. DESIGN This year, for my senior independent work, I am designing a low-cost electrochemical frequency response analyzer that will be able to better monitor the state of charge inside of a battery at a lower cost than existing sensors. This will allow for longer-lasting, electric vehicle battery packs. I am building this device with a digital oscilloscope and Python. Through the project, I have been learning how to code in Python, design circuits and operate a digital oscilloscope. I've also learned a great deal about electric vehicle battery packs and battery management systems.
