While studying at SCAD a project we were tasked with was, design a product or a service that would aid in a natural disaster.
The best direction i thought was to help the people that risk there lives to save others. For this instance it was for the US Coast Guard.
This design has elements to protect the survivor from previous design flaws of the existing basket. The redesigned basket also cuts down on space used in the cabin of various helicopters. With the redesigned elements of the new basket the rescue team will be able to speed the process of the rescue and get home faster.
From where the project was left at SCAD, my current employer Aerial Machine and Tool Corp. realized the benefits of this new redesign. From then we have prototyped the basket and received great reviews from many US Coast Guard members.
