"It only takes a spark. 'An Ounce of Prevention is worth a Pound of Cure,' Ben Franklin advised to fellow Philadelphians. From his encouraging anonymous article in the Pennsylvania Gazette, an initiative was sparked to protect towns from fire. The first volunteer fire company in America, Union Fire Company, opened on December 7, 1736."
