Steampunk outfit for a friend's soon-to-be-born son. The process involved buying the plain jacket and overalls and embellishing them to suit the purpose, so I removed the coat's original buttons and hand-sewed new ones on in addition to all the faux leather, cord atop ribbon, buttons, and fringe epaulets. The chains at the jacket pockets were from the straps on a woman's tank top I bought at a thrift store. Using the internet, I selected images of military-inspired medals, researching specific ones appropriate to the title I came up with for him--Air Captain of the Milky Way Galaxy--and printing them out on cardstock to make into pins. One medal is an actual button that looked like a medallion, so I attached that to the red, white, and blue ribbon. I also hand-pounded dog tags in a format authentic to real military tags.
