Yakima Food Cooperative is a nonprofit food
co-op that was in the process of expanding from a small online food co-op to a full size brick and mortar grocery store.
Challenge and Objective:
To create a new name and logo and create a comprehensive look and feel for a brick and mortar grocery store. Since there is an existing Yakima Co-op (a farm Co-op) that was creating confusion, it was decided that a name change more suitable to a store format was needed. Wild Rye Market, named after native vegetation in the Shrub Steppe region that Yakima and surrounding Valley resides in reflects both a sense of place while indicating that this is a food store. The tagline also is more encompassing to the region beyond the city of Yakima.
