Design Brief:
Create a fully functional empty box of Tide to be used as part of a sales sample kit. Actual graphics would be supplied further into the project.
Action:
We began by examining a store-bought box of Tide and taking detailed measurements, especially of all the dielines. Using similar stock we die-cut blank samples, testing the order and depth of cuts and the scores it would take to make it close to authentic.
The new graphics were printed on a
6 color press and further testing on the sample maker proved beneficial. Final samples not only looked identical to store bought samples but actually opened with the same function and feel as an original. This was as close to reverse engineering as any design job we have attempted.
