Hardinge Comparison Wheel
Design Brief:
Produce a unique comparison-spinner for use at a trade show booth, giving accurate details of differences in machining technology between Hardinge and their main competitors.
Action:
This project evolved from a regular spinner with a wheel on the outside to a two-sided version with a steering wheel in the center of a dashboard. Keeping to the corporate pallet range, and enlarged icon, Hardinge and their Bridgeport brand faced the competition.
My main challenge proved to be the accurate alignment of spinner text so that the details would back up correctly. I added a stopping mechanism inside the dashboard so once the steering wheel was fully turned in one direction, it would stop and you were left with a message on top stating, “please turn over to the other side.”
It proved to be a unique and popular item at the trade shows.
