We were asked to produce a large quantity of sales samples for the Charmin and Bounty brands. These sales samples were full size and contained live product. One challenge was that no manufactured packaging was available because the art had not been approved yet. The second challenge was that our company did not possess the printing or finishing equipment used in the manufacturing process. I led a team from Design, Production and Manufacturing to develop techniques to produce these samples.
After working with sales and estimating to develop a project scope and cost analysis, I worked with our Production and Manufacturing teams to develop a process that utilized the equipment we had to produce viable packaging for the sales samples. These printed sheets are poly-film mounted to a carrier sheet and fed through an offset press. Printed 5 color + white in reverse.
A sampling of the over 66,000 sample packages we manufactured. There were six different product counts, three product styles and five roll sizes within the 83 versions of Bounty packages we made.
The Charmin project was comparable with over 39,000 samples, 11 product counts, four product styles and six product sizes for 63 versions of the packages.
