Bost Extension Center
This addition to the Bost Extension Center on the Mississippi State campus focused on the experiences one would have while walking along through a series of pavilions. The addition creates a connection with nature by integrating garden spaces into the site. The original pavilion acts as an extension through the addition by providing a view between the two levels to the undisturbed area of the site.
The Bost Extension Center Addition is made up of a series of classrooms and garden spaces, much like that seen at the University of Virginia. It also contains living spaces for faculty members who would live and work in the same area. The structure is derived from a study of the Adler House. The structure creates a voided square in the corner of each module. This is achieved by extending the volume of space past the structure.
The model of the extension center addition uses hydrocal to show the circulation path that wraps the exterior of the building.
