S/S + A/W 2014 - Goddess Dress Collection
The Goddess Collection:
SS 2014: Cotton hand screen-printed pieces
A/W 2015: Organic Silk Habotai and Chiffon pieces
Silhouette and forms: Deconstructed and developed on the mannequin draping the Kaftans, Bubu, and Jellaba. The process Iterating and reiterating the silhouettes on a mannequin, evolving an Avant Garde, flattering and sophisticated signature ‘Goddess dress’. Working on the gracefulness of Kaftans and Lebanese costumes, rouching details, tucks and gathers are formed.
Referencing: traditional style/ customs found in Ghanaian traditional Menswear, the left shoulder is covered the right remains bear, and the neck exposed (a sign of beauty in Ga tribe).
Color and Texture: Prints and textures reflecting how the vision impaired may view the world like a pixilated TV monitor, from the textured cottons to the diaphanous blur like digital derived print designs on silk and chiffon.
