This is the street side of the truck, so we didn't have a serving window to worry about here. We chose to use the whole canvas to showcase the truck, including not only the logo, bright background and burger illustration, but also a hidden menu - elk, bison, and wild boar are all burgers found on the official food truck menu.
Designing the front of the truck provided a bit of a challenge: our canvas was extremely limited. Therefore, we chose to keep the design fairly simple and focus on the important parts: the truck logo and contact phone number, plus the bright background to complete the design.
This is the pedestrian side of the truck - the side with the serving window, so we had to be careful with what elements we placed where. We chose to keep it simpler than the opposite side but still wanted it to be attention grabbing, so we limited the design to the most important aspects: the big bright logo and the large illustration of the burger, in addition to the fun, bright background. We placed the social media and web address information on the lower right, just behind the front doors, where it would still be visible even with the serving window open.
The back of the truck. This side is very important as well, but is a limited space. Since it will likely be viewed most when the truck is driving from point to point, we chose to focus on the most important aspects: the bright background, the big logo, and all the social media and web address information so it can grab attention and give people the information they need to find out where the truck will be.
This was the original truck we chose to redesign for our class project. As you can see, it's a big difference!

Food Truck Rebranding

In this class project, we worked in pairs to redesign an existing food truck currently operational in the LA area. We chose to redesign the Bison Burger truck.

The concept behind our design two-fold: we wanted to keep it simple and easy to read while still being bright and attention grabbing.

We started with a fun, bright logo with the truck's name contained within the shape of a bison. For the truck background we drew on one the last remaining present day region where wild bison can still be found: Yellowstone National Park in Montana. Big Sky Country. Open plans and rolling hills and lots and lots of big blue sky. We finished off the design with animal graphics (based on menu options!) and an illustration of a tasty looking burger.
