Mind the Difference
The “Mind the Difference” comics contest had the goal to promote a caring approach towards people with mental disorders, by raising questions on the condition of being “different”. I’ve decided to illustrate the daily activities of a phrenologist, an expert in a pseudo-science that held nonfactual assumptions on the mentally ill. The discomforting show of such a brutal, yet disciplined routine is accompanied by a striking black, white and red palette. The balloon treatment is peculiar, in fact, the medic has no humane words for his patients: he only speaks the language of schoolbooks.
