This project is the designing of an abstract sculpture where the design brief was to incorporate an art movement (I chose 'Constructivism') , a form of technology (I chose a ' mechanical clock') and an insect (I chose a Butterfly), all into one sculpture.
I made the sculpture in such a way that it has a different view from all angles.
The message that the sculpture intends to convey is directed to the Singapore Education system.
I decided to express myself by making a sculpture, depicting a butterfly breaking out of it's chrysalis, where the students were represented by butterflies, and how we are forced to "grow" and "develop" at society's speed, and not allowing us to have enough time to develop fully on our own. Instead, we end up not being able to reach our full potential and give our actual best.
