This is my entry for a Satellite Dish redesign competition hosted by SES Global.
We were challenged with the task of completely rethinking the design of the Satellite Dish and creating a new and inspired form that could potentially replace the plain existing designs.
I turned to nature straight away for my guidance as I believe that a lot of today's dish designs are focussed around the mechanical aspects and the dish's functionality. I wanted to completely oppose the mechanical influences of current designs which is why nature was the perfect new focus.
As shown in my inspiration board, the process of leaves curling and growing inspired me most which is how I got to this final design.
A seamless organic form, curling and growing from the dish to the receiver, contrasted beautifully with industrial materials to give a perfect urban/rural blend.
