This is a classic view of Arizona using acrylic on heavy water color paper. Total time for the creation of this work was roughly four hours. The piece is not that large, measuring roughly 1 1/2' x 1'.

Now we have an example of classic black and white portraiture. It was created solely for the purpose of showing mixed media (acrylic, ink, graphite) on illustration board as regards the human form. Multiple textures result from the mix of brush, pencil, and even old fashioned airbrush. These days I would simply go straight to digital rather than spend the hours with a traditional airbrush!

Here we go. The subject was taken from a personal snap shot at a local nature preserve. It is a good example of pen and ink on polypropylene sheet. The sheet was airbrushed with speckled neutral gray, the drawing was lightly sketched on with standard HB drafting pencil, then detailed using a combination of rapido graph pen and exacto knife (ink and scratch) in order to obtain fine detail.

And here is a small work (literally one foot or less in any direction) showcasing acrylic on heavy water color paper. Painted more or less on the spot in a small historic town this piece is intended to be more gestural.

In a much more realistic style this oil on canvas was done as part of a collection for Ducks Unlimited. It ultimately did not make the cut but it does showcase traditional layering and glazing methods in the oil medium.
