Estrobilo
During 2012 I have taken Post degree morphology studies at the Buenos Aires University. Among the subjects in the curriculum, I undertook Technomorphology, taught by the architect Pedro Reisig. It was quite challenging given the extensive array of topics addressed in a relatively short period.
One of the accomplished projects was applied science, it involved choosing a natural phenomena and from there on, create and design an industrial object or a practical solution for any sort of trouble on a day to day life. I have chosen the pine tree seed called strobilus and managed to create a new lifeboat design with plastic reinforcements.
What I have enjoyed the most about this project was the requirement to be developed through sketches and drawings only, without the aid of any digital means. During this process, I have devised ideas to improve parachute backpacks, a “stend” system to unclog veins and arteries ( already existing) and the obvious solution of a grenade.
