This is the end result of my semester corse in furniture design.
This chair was made as a out door deck chair. It stacks and and is quite comforable. I use baltic burtch plywood and tryied to exploit this materials beautiful layyering by leaving it exposed. I used inspiratin from furniture design of the 20's and 30's. i tried to create an an exciting dynamic flow using the curve of the legs and the extention of the arm rests.
This peice was created in responce to the growing issue of obesity in America. the chair easly supports a person 6'4" of healthy weight. After this weight is reached the seating begins to fail. The peice becomes Un-sitable because of the angle at which the seat droops to. It is weighted using elastic cord which also gives cushin to the wooden seat
This table was created with the use of discarded furniture. I Used funiture found on the street of my neighborhood. I tried to highlight and retain the character and history of the wood as i found it. I updated it by splicing the peices together to create my own peice. The white pannels are frosted plastic and have resesed lights with in them. i chose to do this to create the ambiance of candles.
