Quiet book fully open
Quiet Book - This is somewhat of a 'representational' self portrait. I was inspired by a quiet book that my mom made for me when I was little, a soft, fabric book with snaps, zippers, hooks, ties, etc. that keeps children busy and quiet. Instead of a traditional book, I designed it to fold open in different directions. Each panel is a different body part; ear, brain, heart, hand, eye, and when each is opened up it reveals something to do with each 'sense'.
Ear & Heart (from Quiet Book) - The ear, used velcro to fasten, the heart was laced up (removed for the photo). The outside image was each printed in black and white, but revealed color when opened up.
Ear (from Quiet Book) - Interior ear
Ear close up (from Quiet Book) - Each 'set' featured an 'interactive' device... the ear featured small bells sewn into the book.
Heart (from Quiet Book) - The upper petals on the flower were attached seperately and each held on by a magnet under each petal, small sayings were written under each.

Eye close up (from Quiet Book) - The glass shards are covered by a film strip, that when lifted up reveals the mirror.

Brain Interior close up (from Quiet Book) - The brain opens with a zipper, and inside the gear spins around revealing another saying. The background is 'stream of consciousness' text.
