Block
Block is a conceptual redesign of the traditional padlock. Block is an exploration of alternative locking technologies and mechanisms.
Block uses electromagnetic charging through motion of the human body. Much in the way that a mechanical watch motion stays wound through motion, Block’s ring generates a small electrical charge through motion of magnets passing through copper coils.
This charge powers an rfid chip, correspondent to one in the lock. When the ring and lock are brought together, block releases its hold and allows the user to open the lock.
