I designed this for EA Games’ Medal of Honor video game. The game was launched in October 2012 and this tomahawk was the primary weapon of the Voodoo character in the game. One of the design goals for this project was to maintain the full functionality of the tool while at the same time giving it enough ‘cool’ to be in a video game. At the time I was studying Japanese axes and so I blended some of the aesthetics of classic Japanese hand axes with the functional requirements I had learned from working with several Special Forces guys. The end product was this. It is a purely functional piece of hardware that has a slight modern tech edge look to it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=WBgZis64yQE

SOG Voodoo Hawk

This was the first project in my career that I not only got to engineer but I also got to design the complete aesthetic of. The process of researching how I wanted the look and feel to convey a visceral reaction in the user was the precursor to my love and learning of Industrial Design. To this day I have yet to find a guy whose voice doesn't drop an octave when he gets this in his hand.
