This is probably the most internet popular design I've ever worked on. It even won Field & Stream's Best of the Best 2012. Even if your name isn't on it, having a design that wins an award is a pretty cool feeling. It was an interesting challenge to add electronics to a knife and yet still keep the knife easy to clean. One of our primary design requirements was to make a light that would not cast a shadow when the blade was open, (after all what good is a knife / flashlight combo if it casts a shadow when you are trying to use it?) and yet still be a viable camp / hunting / EDC flashlight. We accomplished this goal through the placement and positioning of the LED's on both sides of the blade.

SOG Blade Light

In product design there are moments where you mesh two things together and then step black and blink and wonder how something this obviously useful hasn't been done before. The blade light series is a good example of that.
