To understand a penguin in 3D we where encouraged to sketch the forms we wanted to create and what emotions we wanted to portray in the model.
I created mood boards to help capture the emotions I wanted to create. I wanted to replicate the bond between parent and chick, and portray this through my model.
For the purpose of the model, we had to portray two words into our models from a set list. I choose fluid as my first word, and I produced a mood board to describe what fluid meant to me.
The second word I choose was technical, and again produced a mood board to demonstrate what technical meant to me.
This shot shows the finished model incorporating the two words I had choose to develop into the from.
This image shows the technical side of the penguin. I took a lot of inspiration from steampunk on this side, and produced cogs and gears into the model to give it that technical feel.
This image shows the fluid side. I took inspiration from Zaha Hadid on this side, and wanted to create seamless transitions in the form.
Image looking closely at the gears and cogs within the models head. This helped to strike portray a strong technical feel within the model that is easy to understand.
This image helps to show the chick and penguin together, I wanted to create a fluid image that would appear to wrap around the main model, giving a strong sense of movement and water.
