My senior project started with a simple question! How might we prevent spinal cord injuries in motorcycle accidents through design?
However, after extensive research, I decided to expand the scope of my project to preventing not only spinal cord injuries but also concussions, for they are the top two fatal injuries in motorcycle accidents.
When I was in the research phase, I learned that motorcycle helmets currently in the market are designed to only prevent skull fractures and not concussions. Moreover, I did a survey through which I learned that more than 95 percent of the participants use helmets at all times. As a result, I decided to design a helmet that prevents spinal cord injuries and concussions.
In addition to the features mentioned above, this helmet has many advanced technologies that will bring a sense of comfort and safety to the users to motivate them to use this gear.
I am currently in the process of patenting this helmet and will be only able to show its form.
