Giant Disassembling Robot Puzzle
You enter a mini-escape room and find pieces of a robot strewn about the floor! What appears to be its head starts talking to you - it has the code you need, but it needs to be reassembled.
Percy the giant robot is a fun self-resetting multi-person puzzle designed for an escape room attraction. As part of a team, I helped design percy to be recognizable as a robot when assembled, while also keeping his assembly a challenge requiring multiple people. Using a series of electro-magnets, percy is able to automatically disassemble, and therefore reset, after a group successfully solves his puzzle.
I provided physics simulations in 3DsMax, to help plan joints that could reliably disassemble. I also came up with a method of quickly and cheaply prototyping a 7 foot robot, by creating foldable patterns that could be cut out of foam core using a CNC router.
(Group project - all the drawings, diagrams, sketches, and animations are my work.)
