This was the Winter 2020 Capstone project, done by 4 people - for my Mechatronics Capstone course. It was primarily architectural design (i.e. not detail PCB design and such), from a clean sheet - designing an electric powertrain to meet the Rules of FSAE Electric 2020.
W chose components for the Motor, Motor Controller, Battery Management System, Cells, and safety systems, as well as performing mechanical/thermal design for the battery enclosure and cooling system.
These were backed by laptime simulation, validating our performance goals.
This design was not manufactured, but with the detailed 160 page report it served as an educational basis for the Ryerson team to switch to an electric vehicle for the 2022 competition.
