Beauty and the Beast

New Day Children's Theatre. 2014.
Director: Ashley
Costume Designer: Dawn Bennett
First Hand/Stitcher/Wardrobe/Make-Up: Amanda Heady

-This show was handed over to me at the beginning of construction as the Costume Designer had to leave town.
-Designed and constructed the napkin dresses. The fabric is a taffeta outer dress with a cotton/spandex blend for the can-can dress (which was gathered to fit the skirt).
-Draped and constructed Beast, Beast body double, and Gaston's capes.
-Pulled the villagers' outfits from inventory and rented costumes.
-Glued feathers to Babette's dress based on costume design
-Constructed the complete outfit for Gaston. The vest was drafted, while the pants and shirts were made from a preexisting pattern. The measurements were based on the foam muscles he would be wearing.
-Constructed Belle's first skirt
-Odds and ends: created the carpets outfit, made the skirts for the ballgowns at the end, made aprons/bows for the girls
-Ran wardrobe and make up for show
