Lucellino Concept Camera
This camera was inspired by the works of lighting designer Ingo Maurer.
3 features of Maurer's work - playfulness, an unfinished quality, and the exploration of the qualities of light - were used within the common 'box and square' visual language of current compact cameras as inspirations for this design.
The bent perspex frame gives the illusion of the main circular body floating in mid air, similar to the moon in the night sky, whose ephemeral beauty is one of Maurer's inspirations. The exposed wires and engraved detail around the camera flash is a playful salutation to Maurer's 'Lucellino' (1992) light which is now one of his signature designs. This concept model has been displayed at various University of Technology, Sydney student exhibitions.
