Dystopian Guardian

Avante guard look made from scrap fabrics from past projects, hand dyed with a mix of tea and chemical dye. Crochet copper wire over-skirt.

My inspiration was the impact of human intervention on African lions. Cats have been a symbol for status for thousands of years from Egypt and Rome to the United Kingdom and more. Due to our fascination for flaunting our wealth or holding our value in inanimate objects we have slowly dwindled the population of many of the big cats, one in particular is the African lion. Due to not only our need for Status or putting value onto a living thing (or once living) but also through our collective efforts of valuing our own lives as humans above all else through urbanization, hunting, poaching, improper breeding and all the effects we've had on climate change, we as a race are killing our wildlife.

I used this as my drive for this avant garde look, to bring light to the issue of human intervention on African lions.
