Balsa Structure

The brief was to design and construct a working example of a structure that can hold a certain weight over a span of one metre, within various limits. Those limits are that the only materials allowed to be used are balsa wood, copier paper and balsa wood cement (as an adhesive). The other limit is a weight-limit for the structure, with greater rewards being given for a structure under 40 grams, with the greatest weight allowed being 80 grams. The structure is required to be able to hold 30N in weight in order to pass.

After the first structure snapped across the centre, the second was made with greater reinforcement, and the addition of a sheet of paper wrapped around spread the force of the weight across the structure instead of focussing it on one point, helping it to survive.
