This linoleum print was created as an illustration for Moby Dick. Inspiration for this piece was generated from “The Great Wave of Kanagawa” by the Japanese ukiyo-e artist Hokusai. Although Hokusai’s piece was a woodblock print the intention was to use implied line including positive and negative space to capture the force of nature.
