Having Our Say-Act I Set - A Play based on a memoirs by Sadie and Bessie Delany.
The sisters, raised by a former slave who became the first African American Episcopal bishop, were Civil Rights pioneers. Sadie, the older of the two, was the first African American woman permitted to teach Domestic Science in the state of New York, while Bessie was the second black woman to be granted a dentistry license in the state. The production deals with the trials and tribulations they faced during a century of life.
