Lucid Air Damper Design/Tuning Program:
- Semi-active damper with multiple modes for comfort and performance
After the release of the Air Dream Edition, I joined the project team for 3 new variants for 2022 MY; Pure, Touring/Grand Touring, and Sapphire.
Initial role was to create prototype models and assist in building test dampers to be used for vehicle dynamics testing. During this time, I was promoted to Prototype Designer, but was requested to stay as lead OE designer to complete all tuning revisions until product release.
Updates were vast as we were working on 3 variants for different platform trim levels; RWD, AWD, and high-performance AWD. 20% of the components were shared between platforms with extensive tuning changes.
This was easily my most involved project and one of my most demanding customers. However, it was all worth it when Motor Trend named it their COTY for 2022.
