The foundation of this collection is centered on the challenges confronted by women in Iran. During the creation of this collection, it was observed that women in Iran were experiencing severe adversities, characterized by instances of violence, incarceration, and suppression. The surge in oppressive measures followed the widespread reaction to the tragic demise of Mahsa Amini, a young woman who met a tragic fate at the hands of Iran’s morality police. Her demise was a result of a brutal assault, prompted by a deviation in the positioning of her hijab. Subsequent to Mahsa’s demise, other women who dared to voice their dissent against the oppressive regime have similarly faced fatal consequences or incarceration. The unfolding events in Iran held profound significance for me due to the personal connections I maintain with friends and family residing in the region. It became imperative for me to shed light on this distressing situation, which is often overlooked by mainstream media.
